Stigma is widely viewed as a major barrier for those in need of mental health support. However, with increased awareness of mental health in recent years, does stigma still matter for today’s teens?
New research from The Jed Foundation (JED) shows that stigma is not the most important factor preventing teens from reaching out for mental health support. While there are other major barriers, the good news for parents is that teens primarily turn to them for non-judgmental support.
The Morgan Stanley Alliance for Children’s Mental Health invites you to join us for an expert panel discussing important findings from this research, including:
- Top concerns holding teens back from asking for help
- Where teens turn for support and what they really want when reaching out for help
- How parents and other adults can better enable teens to talk about their mental health
Speakers include:
- John MacPhee, Chief Executive Officer, JED
- Michelle Mullen, PhD, Senior Vice President and Chief Design & Impact Officer, JED
- Kamla Modi, PhD, Senior Director, Design & Impact, JED
The conversation will be moderated by Joan Steinberg, President of the Morgan Stanley Foundation and CEO of the Alliance for Children’s Mental Health’s Advisory Board.
